4. How to utilize those web sites, I mentioned on chapter 3

(DEMONSTRATION!!!)

I assume you already did what I told you on chapter 2. You did it, right? O.K I will show you the real thing the quintessence part of this manual

After you enable your Internet access, please open IE.

After you have launched IE, please go to my home page like in [Fig. 5]. If you get a warning like [Fig.5], then you have to install Global IME, refer to section 2.2). If you are an OSU student, you should no longer see this message. Home users can just click, but can not type Japanese. I strongly recommended to install Global IME.

If you follow the instructions or you are an OSU student, then see [Fig. 6]

If you can see the Japanese characters properly, then you are all set. Please click on the TBS news site link on my home page. This will reduce your work to type in all the URLs like this. http://news.tbs.co.jp

If you can not read proper Japanese like [Fig. 7] even though you could read at the stage on [Fig.6], then don't panic. It's O.K. You just need to set the Japanese font on your browser. See [Fig. 8].

According to installed fonts on your system, you may see a little bit different encoding lists, but that does not matter. Please select Japanese(Auto-Select) like [Fig. 8]

If you did like [Fig. 8], then you are all set. You can read Japanese properly like [Fig. 9] If you have any problems reading Japanese font, that means you did not follow my instructions. Please read my instructions carefully. Once you can see [Fig 9], click on any article with video a camera icon. This will bring you to [Fig.10]. I know you can do it from there. I believe in you. You can do it!

Actually, you can use either Real Audio G2 or Microsoft Media Player. Please make sure you have the player. If you don't have them, then you can install them. OSU students do not need to worry. Those are installed at UTS sites for you.

Now, I want to introduce to you how to utilize Jim Breen's site. Whatever Japanese articles you have, you can use this site to get help. Surely, you can translate the news site above too. However, to practice more, I will show how to translate Tenseijigo . You can go to the site like [Fig. 11].

Before going to Jim Breen's site, it would be better to get another browser window. Please do it like below, [Fig. 12].

Now, let's visit Jim's site. If you click on my link on my home page in the new window [Fig 13] , you can go to Jim's site. After you get there, please click on " Translate words in Japanese Text", then you can see [Fig. 13] If you went to Jim Breen's WWWJDIC Server like [Fig. 13], all you need to do is copy & paste.

I like to use short cuts. After capturing the text, which you want to translate, click right button of the mouse, then you can see the small pop-up window like [Fig. 14] If you copied the text, all you need to do is paste the text in the WWWJDIC page like [Fig. 15].

If you click the "Begin Translation" button in [Fig. 15], you can see the results like [Fig. 16]
